Mijas – Las Largos 25th May 2023
Last Thursday we played our 2nd major of the year, the Torreblanca PGA at Mijas Los Lagos, we were kindly sponsored by the returning John Yuill who had been In the UK for 3 weeks and obviously with the result had gone there for golf lessons.
His winning score gaining him a good chop of his handicap which went down very well with everyone .
We decided for a change to do the presentation at bar El Golf which is just at the end of the 5th hole on Los Lagos and was a great setting for the presentation, it was also commented by quite a few people that they or should I say there golf ball had visited the bar before with a wayward shot to the left on the 5th hole, myself included .
Was also great to see Bob Sawyer back although not playing golf , doing the presentation in his own unique way.

Santana 18th May 2023
Last Thursday we were back at our home course of Santana and were kindly sponsored by the one and only Ian Ashworth.
Despite rain and thunderstorms predicted the round thankfully was dry until after everybody had finished playing, we then got the much needed rain hence the presentation taking place inside.
The course as usual was in excellent condition but with a stiff breeze and tee boxes pushed right back it was fairly low scoring for Santana, however when the cards had been checked there was only 1 point separating the top 6 so countback was needed .
There was also a special presentation to Diane Punchard for getting a hole in One on the 7th hole, congratulations Diane.

Next week we play out 2nd major of the year, the PGA, at Mijas Los Lagos with the first tee time at 10.40, afterwards we will be going to bar El golf at the end of the 5th hole on Los Lagos where there will be some tapas and a drink provided and we will also be doing the presentation there, all will be explained in the usual email you receive on Tuesday morning with the tee times etc.
Santa Maria 11th May 2023
Last Thursday we played at Santa Maria golf course and was kindly sponsored by Howard Ablett.
After battling the usual crazy morning traffic a slightly reduced field of 23 keen golfers set off, unfortunately after a few holes we learnt that this was reduced more as one of our guests had taken a tumble and dislocated his shoulder , from what I hear the staff at the course were very good and swift with him and was able to get to hospital fairly swiftly, get well soon Rodger.
Our winner this week was a fairly new member of the society shooting a great score and a first time winner so of course goes through to the champion of champions final later in the year now.
Many thanks to our guest master of ceremonies Dennis Regan for doing the presentation.

Parador GC 4th May 2023
Thursday we played our 2nd Medal comp of the year at Parador and was kindly sponsored by Mike Milner.
Unfortunately Mike couldn’t be there on Thursday as a few weeks ago he snapped his Achilles Tendon and is recovering back in the UK, as some of you know Mike is a season ticket holder at Man Utd and the story he told us was that it was after the game he was running for the bus home and his Achilles gave way rumour has it though, this was not the story and it was that he was in fact running away from the ground during the match and the stewards were chasing him to make him go back inside Old Trafford and watch the rest of the game, get well soon Mike and hopefully see you back here soon.
As usual with our medal comp, we have 2 winners and as in this case if the player wins both , the next best net score wins and goes through to the finals day later in the year.
