Rio Real 25th July 2024
Thursdays game was played at the magnificent Rio Real course and we were kindly sponsored by Steve Moore.
The course was in excellent condition and with very little breeze a small band of keen golfers set out to tame the course, however in this case the course again was the winner with only the top 3 managing to get to the 30pts and above.

1st, Tony Sidebottom, 31pts, back 9 of 17pts, playing off 18.1, now 17.5.
2nd, Steve Moore, 31pts, back of 13pts, playing off 17.2 , now 16.8.
3rd, Andy Hassall, 30pts, playing off 15.3, now 15.0.
Nearest the pin in One on Hole 3, Andrew Mansell.
Nearest the pin in Two on Hole 11, Tim Hemming.
Nearest the pin in One on Hole 12, Gary Sparrow.
Next week we are playing at Calanova with the first tee time at 10.00, this will be a medal qualifier with the top 2 in the gross and net category going through to the finals day in November, we currently only have 1 space left for Thursday.
Santana Golf 18th July 2024
Thursdays game was played at our home course Santana and we were kindly sponsored by Tony Sidebottom.
The course as usual was in great condition although they were watering it quite a bit in anticipation of this weekends baking hot temps.
Some of the pin positions were in some not seen places before and proved quite a challenge on some holes but not to our winner who kept up his recent good form to get another handicap which was cheered by all that played.
As well as the usual prizes for top 3 and nearest the pins, there was also a pairs comp which was drawn up at Santana before teeing off.

1st, Andy Hassall, 37pts , playing off 16.1, now 15.3.
2nd, Tony Sidebottom, 34pts, playing off 18.6, now 18.1.
3rd, Bob Sawyer, 33pts, back 9 of 18pts, playing off 9.7, now 9.5.

Nearest the pin in Two on Hole 6, Nobody.
Nearest the pin in Three on Hole 10, yep him again, Bob Sawyer.
Nearest the pin in One on Hole 16, Terry Smith.
Pairs winners with a combined score of 70pts were Andy Hassall and Ian Ashworth.

Parador Golf 11th July 2024
Thursdays game was played at Parador and we were kindly sponsored by Richard Mansel Edwards.
This was our last Major of the year, which was the Open.
On a quite benign day, breeze wise for Parador the course still played fairly long and the course in excellent condition.

2nd Andy Hassall, 33pts, playing off 16.5, now 16.1.
3rd, John Yuill, 32pts, playing off 25.5, now 25.1.

Cabopino Golf4th July 2024
Thursday was a sad day for the society as it was the first game since the passing of our good friend Larry Byrne and we played this game in his memory.
On the course we all wore black ribbons on our shirts and back at the Red Dragon before the presentation Bob said a few words about Larry’s life with most of the golfers who played on Thursday in attendance with some of Larry’s family .
Also there were some of Larry’s friends and fellow society members who came down as well to raise a glass to Larry’s memory .
Our game on Thursday was played at Cabopino and all we can say is that the course was the definite winner with as usual the scores being low for this course.
Our winner was decided on a countback and on this sad day it was quite appropriate that it was Larry’s partner in crime every Thursday that won.
