Parador 31st July 2025
Thursdays game was played at Cabopino and we were kindly sponsored by Dennis Regan who as well as giving away the prizes filled in to do the presentation as our usual presentation expert Bob Sawyer unfortunately was out injured , get well soon Mr Bob.
With the numbers down again as usual for the time of year there was no order of merit again and also no top 3 handicap cut as there weren’t enough members playing.
Cabopino proved its usual tough self and we had a 3 way tie at the top which was decided on a back 9 countback.
Back at the Red Dragon there was some debate about whether one of the nearest the pin prizes should go to the winner or be put in a raffle as after putting the tee shot to a creditable 12 feet preceeded to 4 putt.
After the presentation there was an early 50th birthday surprise cake ,who on his last game for a while won again and boy did everyone know that he had again.

Parador was the venue for our latest game and we were kindly sponsored by Jason Abbasciano.
Numbers as expected this time of year were down so there was no order of merit points on offer but we still played for the usual handicap cuts and even more importantly played for the top 3 prizes and Nearest the pin prizes where on offer were Andys finest wines from the Red Dragon
.
Apart from a couple of temporary greens at Parador the course was in great condition.

Santana 17th July 2025
Last week we played at our home course Santana and were kindly sponsored by Jeremy Griffiths.
As usual this time of year numbers were down but we still had enough for the order of merit comp which we need a minimum of 14 players for.
When the cards had been checked there was a tie at the top which went to a countback on the back 6 holes as they both had the same on the back 9 holes.

Miraflores 10th July 2025
Thursdays game was played at Miraflores and we were kindly sponsored by Brian Wilson who added a couple more prizes to the usual prizes we have.
The course was In good condition albeit with fairly slow greens which frustrated quite a few of us.
After a long hot day on the course everyone was looking forward to a nice few quiet beers and the presentation back at the dragon but alas the peace was shattered yet again when the winner was announced and it turned out to be one of the winners from last week and in his own inimitable style let out a yell in a broad Northern Irish accent of “Get the f**k in there”.
With another handicap cut for him it was then mentioned nobody has ever won 3 weeks in a row so no pressure Brian.

Calonova 3rd July 2025
Thursdays game was played at Calanova and we were kindly sponsored by Jonathan Furlong who unfortunately wasn’t able to play but still wanted to sponsor the day.
The format we played was medal and was a qualifier for the final in November and 2 players from each of the gross and net categories made it through.
On a sweltering hot day, plenty of liquids was the order of the day and thankfully up at Calanova there was a breeze to cool us down slightly. The course was in great condition and well worth a visit if you are over in Spain soon.
When the cards had been checked , we had a new weekly winner of 1 of the categories who made sure everyone knew up and down the paseo it was him with a loud yell and also held court inside the bar telling anyone that asked and some that didn’t about his win.
