El Higueral 25th June 2026

Thursdays game was played at El Higueral and we were kindly sponsored by Tony Newman.

As usual at El Higueral with it being a 9 hole course the men played off white tees the 1st 9 holes and the yellow tees the 2nd time round with the ladies playing off yellows then reds.

With there only being 13 of us playing there was no order of merit this week and therefore with us not playing it in July and August due to low numbers it is now paused until the 1st game in September.

This game also was the end of the mini 3 month order of merit with 2 players in with a chance of winning it , they were Steve Bonsor & Brian Wilson.

Onto the weekly comp there was 1 superb round with the winning score 9pts clear of 2nd place and in his usual modest, quiet way not only celebrated the win but also a Nearest the pin and the mini order of merit.

Our latest game at Los Flamingos seen us playing the society’s 3rd major of the year ,the US Open , and we were kindly sponsored by Mike Milner.

On a breezy day down the coast it was certainly a tough test and throw in the usual tined greens at this time of year it was a tough test for the majority of those that played.

Back at the Red Dragon there were plenty of tales of woe being told, well it was Thursday I suppose, and when the cards had been checked there was a clear winner with the other 2 coveted podium places and that all important bottle of chateau de Red Dragon vino to collect going to a countback.

Our winner collected his 2nd straight major and I believe he’s still signing autographs as I write this.
