Torreblanca Golf Society Reports
On these pages we post each weeks reports and results, we hope you enjoy them.
Anoreta 30th April 2026
Anoreta was the venue for Thursdays game and we were kindly sponsored by Mark Humphrey.
With Anoreta being one of the toughest courses we play and numbers a bit lower this week we decided to play a pairs texas scramble with each player having to get 7 drives each in to count which hearing afterwards proved a bit tricky for some round there and needed there last 1 in on the 18th.
The handicaps per team were both added together and 20% of that to take off at the end.
As it was texas scramble the 3 Nearest the pins were all on par3’s , the winners of the first 2 were pretty good shots apparently, as for the last one on the 17th Hole which for those that dont know is across water, you really had to be there to believe it.
The ball “bounced” twice in the water , went up the lining of the edge of the lake with obvious top spin on , and went onto the green, step forward Mr Andrew Hassall.
Results from Anoreta
1st, Andy Hassall & Gary Sparrow , Gross 73, Nett 68.56.

Atalaya New 16th April 2026
Atalaya New was the venue for Thursdays game and we were kindly sponsored by Robert Bungay.
24 of us played on Thursday and most of us had the same opinion that the course wasn’t in the best condition surprisingly but this didn’t reflect in the scores with it very close at the top and 11 players scoring 31 or more points.
When the cards had been checked it was the wiley old fox coming out on top with a great score and a very overdue handicap cut.

The society’s first major/ board competition of the year was played on Thursday and it was our version of the US Masters and as usual it was played at Santana and we were kindly sponsored by Peter Bull.
As usual lately at Santana the course played very long and add in some very tricky pin positions there were tales of woe heard for hours back at the Red Dragon over a cheeky beer or 2.

Santa Maria was the venue for our latest game and we were kindly sponsored by Dave Lax who unfortunately couldn’t play due to injury but still sponsored anyway.
With it being Easter numbers were down as usual this week but 17 of us battled our way round on the hottest day we have had this year.
Back at the Red Dragon there were only a handful of us back and with the outside terrace busy and Andy Hassall’s till ringing constantly which brought a smile to his face we did the presentation inside.
Results from Santa Maria.
