Torreblanca Golf Society Reports
On these pages we post each weeks reports and results, we hope you enjoy them.
Miraflores 31st October 2024
Miraflores was the venue for our latest game and we were kindly sponsored by Mark Humphrey.
After the heavy rain of the last few days there was alot of doubt if we would be able to play but luckily the course was open and 16 of us turned up.
After a deluge on the first tee we got quite lucky after that and to be fair to Miraflores the course was very playable with the greens although a bit slow in good condition.
Afterwards a couple of players came back in with more mud on them than the course and obviously picked the wrong place to walk down as they had gone for a slide.
Despite the conditions there were some decent scores in with the top 2 decided by a countback on the back 6 holes.
Results from Miraflores.

Santana we are also full and we won’t be able to get an extra tee time so if your name is not already down you may not get a game, if you wish to be put on the reserve list please email torreblancagolfsociety@gmail.com
Santana 24th October 2024
Santana was the venue for last weeks game and we were kindly sponsored by Ian McCarthy.
As like the last couple of times we have played here it proved a tough test with the tees pushed back and some pin placements at the back of the greens, despite this there were still some great scores with our top 4 scoring 36pts and above.
There was an early cheer from the first group out as Robert Bungay holed his 6 iron tee shot on the 2nd hole for a hole in One.

The next few weeks we are getting busier especially the 14th November which is our medal comp final and the 21st November which is our Champion of Champions finals day, if you are wanting to play we will need to know especially if you are not here before then, if you try to book in a week before there may not be room to play.
Santa Maria 17th October 2024
Thursdays game was played at Santa Maria and we were kindly sponsored by Martin & Kay England.
This was a medal game and the last chance for people to get into next months final at Parador with the first 2 players in the Gross and Net qualifying.
After the welcome rainfall of the last few days before Thursday the course was very very wet with the greens especially slow and bumpy and most of the talk was how many 3 & 4 putts people had, there was also a 5 putt but I couldn’t possibly mention who that was.
Afterwards back at the Red Dragon when Bob was doing the presentation there was a toast raised to the newlyweds Phil & Pam in the only way we know how too, yep the shots came out.
After checking the cards again there was a different placed player who came 2nd in the Net category to what was announced at the presentation as the card had been added up wrong.

Cabopino 10th October 2024
Thursdays game was played at Cabopino Golf course and we were kindly sponsored by Robert Bungay.
This is probably the hardest and lowest stableford scoring course we play with the winning score somewhere in the low 30’s if we are lucky. We did have 3 players score low 30’s but these scores were smashed by the winning score who came shot a magnificent round and won by a huge 8 shots.
Afterwards back at the Red Dragon there were calls for a bigger handicap cut but we had to settle for just a 2 shot.
We often hear some poor excuses as why people don’t want to play Cabopino but this week we heard a new one from 2 of our members and it was that they were going to Gibraltar to get married on Thursday. Firstly why?? And secondly who arranges there own wedding on a golf day, the couple in question were Phil and Pam Savage and many congratulations to them both from us all at the society.
Results from Cabopino
1st, Mike Milner, 39pts, playing off 14.6, now 13.4.
2nd, Don Crowley, 31pts, back 9 of 17pts, playing off 19.1, now 18.6.

Nearest the pin in One on Hole 15, Mike Milner.
Next week we are playing at Santa Maria with the first tee time at 10.32, this is a medal game and the last qualifier for the final at Parador next month.
El Higueral 3rd October 2024
El Higueral was the venue for our latest game and we were kindly sponsored by Roy Sherratt.
As this is a 9 hole course thr men play the course off whites the first 9 and yellows the second 9 with the ladies off yellows then reds.
With a stiff breeze on our first 9 holes it proved a tough test but with the breeze calming down for the 2nd time around there were some great scores back 9 with our winner winning by 4 shots and his handicap deservedly hacked as a result.
Back at the Red Dragon for the presentation it was a great evening with some familiar faces there from the past which was great to see.
Results from El Higueral
1st, David Jack, 42pts, playing off 20.7, now 17.6.
2nd, Dave “Poppet” Errington, 38pts , playing off 10.0, now 9.5.

Nearest the pin in One on Hole 12, Dave Errington.
Nearest the pin in Two on Hole 16, Tony Sidebottom.
