Santa Maria Golf 23rd February 2023
Thursday we played at Santa Maria with the day kindly sponsored by Tony Sidebottom.
The course played quite tricky especially the greens which were very slow and quite bumpy , however with the sun shining and temperatures nudging towards 20 degrees a good day was had by all, well nearly all .
Our 2 Nearest the pins winners were more than pleased to win with the nearest the pin winner more than pleased to beat a certain Mr Waby’s shot in the previous group, well played Larry. The other winner of Nearest in Two I hear even surprised himself to win it.
Afterwards back at the Red Dragon and after the presentation had been done, we celebrated our Master of Ceremonies, Bob Sawyer, birthday with a rather beautiful cake and some shots. The picture of Bob and his cake has his age on not what he shot on Thursday at Santa María

Cabopino Golf 16th February 2023
This week we played a pairs Texas Scramble at Cabopino Golf, Cabopino was kindly sponsored by Bobby & Philomena Curren who despite not being here wanted to sponsor the day anyway so many thanks to both of them .
This was only the 2nd time we had played this format of 2 man Texas Scramble and with the course playing as tough as ever and some very tricky pin positions on slick greens most people were glad we did play this format.
The handicaps were worked out by adding both players handicaps together then, taking 20% of that total which was took off at the end of the round.

Santana Golf 9th February 2023
Last Thursday we played at Santana and was our first Medal of the year and was kindly sponsored by Ronnie Ross.
After a few days of heavy rain the course was remarkably dry which was a pleasant surprise to us all, as usual we had our gross and net comp with the winners of each going through to the final in November.

Anoreta Golf 2nd February 2023
This week we played Anoreta Golf, the day was Sponsored by Bob Sawyer. This was our first week of cash prizes and we think it went down quite well (for the winners anyway). We will be running cash prizes every 6-8 eight weeks.
The course was not in its best condition, with the greens being particularly poor. It didnt make much difference to our winner who for the 4th time shot a gross score of 81, 2 shots under his age! Well done Ray!
Anoreta Results
1st place was Ray Critcher with 38 pts playing off 12 now 11
2nd Place was Martin Fink with 34 pts, playing off 17.5 now 17.1
3rd place was Norman Walker 33 with a better back nine playing off 10 now 9.8.
Nearest the pin in one was Norman Walker.
Nearest the pin in two was Andy Hassall.
Next week we are playing Santana, our first medal of the year and we have a full house of 40, on the 16th we are at Cabopino and we still have places if you want to test your golf.
