Santa Maria 30th May 2024
Thursdays game was played at Santa Maria and we were kindly sponsored by the birthday boy John Yuill.
The course was not in the best condition to say it politely and after being told that we would be playing 3 holes on temporary greens this was not the case as there were in fact 2 temporary holes as the 5th and 15th were shut but were not told any of this before hand.
Back at the Red Dragon the birthday boy put a couple of extra prizes on so we decided to have a blind pairs comp which was drawn out by Dave “Elvis” Errington.

1st, Ian Ashworth, 36pts, back 9 of 19pts, playing off 26.1, now 25.4.
2nd, Gary Sparrow, 36pts, back 9 of 17pts, playing off 8.6, now 8.3.
3rd, David Jack, 35pts, playing off 21.0, now 20.6.

Santana Golf 23rd May 2024
Our latest game was played at Santana and we were kindly sponsored by Keith Baker.
After being informed by the course that they were top dressing the greens we decided to play a pairs Texas Scramble.
The handicaps were worked out by adding both together and taking 20% off at the end of the gross score.
Even though the greens had been tined and sanded they still played very well considering.

Mijas Las Largos 16th May 2024
Mijas Los Lagos was the venue for our 2nd major of 2024 playing the Torreblanca PGA and we were kindly sponsored by Jim Gracey.
The course as ever played long as usual but throw in a very stiff breeze, tee markers right back and pins near the back of alot of the greens it proved a very tough test which reflected in the scores with only 1 player scoring just below his handicap and claiming his first bit of silverware with the society.

2nd, Gary Sparrow, 32pts, back 9 of 18pts, playing off 8.9, now 8.6.
3rd, Ray Critcher, 32pts, back 9 of 16pts, playing off 12.8, now 12.5.

Atalaya New 9th May 2024
This week wes played at Atalaya New, the day was sponsored byRichard Hookham.
We played our 2nd Medal qualifier of the year with the top 2 in both the gross and net category going through to Novembers final.
The course was in excellent condition and proved its usual tough test for most of us, however our 2 winners came in with great scores especially the Net winner who’s handicap had just gone back up to 28.0 after winning this time last year and now gets a huge handicap cut for next week where he will be the defending champion in our 2nd major of the year the USPGA.

Miraflores May 2nd 2024
This week’s game was played at Miraflores and we were kindly sponsored by Larry Byrne.
A slightly reduced field of 23 players had to be up bright and early as this was one of our earliest tee times and everyone wanted to be off last for some reason

Please note if you are down to play Mijas on the 16th May and have not paid cash or transferred your money to Simon, this needs to be paid by Tuesday as we have to pay in advance to Mijas, if you haven’t paid by then you may not be able to play.
