Marbella GCC 25th September

Last weeks game was played at Marbella and we were kindly sponsored by Gary Sparrow.

This was our first game after the ryder cup and there were still tales of woe being told by both sides and also how enjoyable the 2 days were.

We had a near full house of 30 players which is always great to see with 4 guests so for this week we put a guest prize on.
When the cards had been checked there was 1 clear winner who obviously put his Ryder Cup disappointment behind him and came in with a great score.

Thursdays game was played at Parador and we were kindly sponsored by the geordie version of the beatles aka, Bill, Ken, John and Mark.

This was our last major of the year , the Open, and as well as the usual prizes there were some extra bottles donated by the sponsors and also we had some prizes from this year’s open at Portrush donated by the Mary Peters Trust.

Santa Maria 4th September 2025

Thursdays game was played at Santa Maria and we were kindly sponsored by Tony Newman.

Numbers again were back up after the summer and this meant a return of the main order of merit competition.

On the course it was a fairly tough day for most with only 4 players 30pts or better, mainly due to the struggles on the greens which were extremely slow.

Back at the Dragon for the presentation , our master of ceremonies, Bob Sawyer certainly had his hands full trying to make himself heard for once as many of the golfing wags had turned up after a ladies do lunch bash at Mias restaurant along the paseo 🫣🫣🫣.
